Assistant Quantity Surveyor vacancy - Graduate opportunity

We have a vacancy for an Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyor to work within the Commercial Team.
You will be responsible for ensuring the Canal & River Trust receives best commercial value from all Construction, Services and Dredging contracts, by providing expert commercial support to 40+ project managers and by ensuring all major contract work is delivered within the required standards and available budgets.
Based from either our Wigan, Northwich or Leeds you will be joining a dynamic, professional Commercial team that has a varied role as a support function as well as a governance function ensuring that the Trust ascertains value for money. Day to day, the role will involve assisting the Commercial Team in everything from conducting audits, agreeing Target Costs, carrying out monthly KPI assessments and monthly applications, to providing support to project managers and service managers with commercial and contract advice.

This role undertakes commercial support for the civil engineering construction and dredging contracts for the the Trust. It provides commercial management support for the delivery of all NEC3 ECC, ECSC and PSC contracts.
The role supports the Project Managers in the asset delivery teams ensuring that the Trust receives best value from its suppliers, and manages risk in accordance with the contract.
As Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyor your role will be to:
We are looking for someone at degree level, who may have some years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a recognised UK client or main contractor and with knowledge of the NEC3 suite of contracts. It is preferable that you have experience of Civil Engineering contracts and a knowledge of carrying out supplier performance analysis. You will be expected to sign up to a Professional body such as RICS or CICES, and will be supported with all the training required to gain accreditation development to enable you to carry out the role, you will also receive people management and leadership training. It is also essential that you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
