    We now have a new opportunity for a Business Intelligence Manager to be based at either Leeds or Milton Keynes.     The role reports to Head of Group Accounting and Business Intelligence, under the Finance and Corporate Services Director there will be no direct reports into this role but potential, over time, to include line management responsibility as role and individual develops. 

     

    Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

    You will be required to

    • Maintain, administer and develop Business Intelligence systems that provide all levels of management with the information and analysis they need in order to monitor and manage the business and to deliver against their business plans, including financial, operational and headcount information.
    • Provide training and support in the use of these systems, in particular increasing the aptitude of users with SQL products such as SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
    • Contribute to the forecasting and business planning processes through providing finance and operational teams with tools and templates to build up their forecasts and populate figures efficiently in SAP, reviewing results and reporting these to management.
    • Expand upon the SQL business warehouse, introducing new data sets from SAP and other sources, building the capability for the information to be combined and analysed in different ways and to be consumed by a wide range of Trust users, through reports and dashboards Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services and Excel.
    • Keep up to date with developments in Business Intelligence and predictive analytics software solutions and to continuously ensure that the Trust makes the optimum use of the latest available technology within its investment budget.
    • Independently scope out and deliver technical Business Information projects in SQL (SSAS, SSIS, SSRS) and TM1 according to the needs of the business.
    • Deliver excellent customer service in responding to reporting and technical queries received through Service Desk
    • Identify and implement improvements to systems (including utilisation of SAP or any alternative ERP package that the Trust selects), reporting and the Business Intelligence landscape in general.

    Skills, knowledge and experience 

     

    The successful candidate must have experience of capturing requirements for complex reporting using IBM Cognos TM1, Excel and SQL (SSAS, SSIS and SSRS) as well as programming ability in writing ETL (extract, transform and load) scripts in TCL and SQL.

    An understanding of SAP and the entire Business Intelligence/data warehouse lifecycle, design principles and OLAP technologies would be a significant advantage.

    In addition to the above the Business Intelligence Manager will also be involved in some general business as usual activities and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the wider Business Intelligence systems and department.

    • Strong understanding of business processes and proven ability to use business intelligence to drive improved performance
    • End to end experience of Business Intelligence reporting within a SAP enterprise wide client
    • Strong knowledge of SQL (including tSQL, SSAS, SSRS and SSIS), Excel and VBA with extensive programming and database administration experience being essential
    • Familiarity with IBM Cognos TM1 v10.2 / TM1 Web / TM1 Perspectives highly desirable
    • Knowledge of Cubeware (TCL scripting) or similar background in developing extract, transform and load scripts
    • Exposure to operating in a complex reporting environment
    • Accounting skills important although professional qualification not essential
    • Exposure to project delivery methodologies and planning processes
    • Knowledge and practical experience of a wide range of requirement elicitation techniques
    • Experience in formal documentation of requirements
    • Self-starter, with a desire to continuously develop systems & processes
    • Strong communication skills, verbally, written & presentation, to explain complex solutions to customers in a clear and concise manner, aligned with the ability to plainly communicate to all stakeholders at all levels within the organisation
    • Strong stakeholder management skills, and ability to work collaboratively
