    Our National Planning Delivery Team provides internal town planning advice.  The Team has an excellent track record in securing planning consents for sites and a wide range of activities on behalf of the Trust and our joint venture partners. 


    We’re seeking to fill a Delivery Planner position in the Team based in either our central Birmingham or Hatton office.


    Reporting to the National Planning Delivery Manager, the role provides the opportunity to experience a broad range of what we do at the Trust, through involvement in a variety of activities and interesting projects. 


    In the role, you'll provide sound and effective day to day planning support to help deliver projects and safeguard the Trust’s reputation, including:


    • Preparation of planning appraisals and strategies;
    • Securing and negotiating planning permissions and other consents, including pre-application consultation and engagement with local planning authorities and a range of stakeholders;
    • Assisting with site promotion in the development plan process;
    • Assisting with planning due diligence on property and land acquisitions;
    • Resolving planning enforcement matters; and
    • Advising on the use of permitted development rights. 

    Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

    You’ll be a chartered town planner with experience in private, public, and/or charity sector planning in a delivery capacity (securing planning permissions on behalf of clients, employer, etc) and will have:

    • Sound knowledge of planning, heritage and environmental law in England and Wales;
    • Knowledge and experience of the relevant planning regimes in England and Wales, including appeals and the enforcement system;
    • An understanding of Government reforms and policy objectives, planning policy, procedures and regulations in England and Wales;
    • Knowledge and experience of the national policy framework, sub-regional spatial planning, local and neighbourhood plan preparation and review processes.
    • A genuine care for, and interest in, the Trust’s vision;
    • Commercial acumen and political awareness;
    • Strong negotiation, influencing, verbal and written communication skills;
    • An ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers and partners, and a team player;
    • Be a self-starter with an ability to work at pace, and be solutions focused;
    • Experience of face to face interaction with the public, customers and neighbours, including engaging in difficult conversations.
    • A valid driving licence appropriate for the vehicle to be driven.
