    We are currently recruiting for a Partner Analyst to lead a comprehensive accounting support service to the Investment and Commercial directorate and the FP&A community, delivering regular review and high-quality insight and analysis. In this role you will be supporting the Finance Business Partner in the achievement of all departmental priorities and deadlines whilst ensuring at all times adherence to corporate accounting policies and relevant accounting standards.


    Our investment and Commercial team are responsible for generating £100m of income to support the Trust’s charitable aims. We have a diverse portfolio of businesses, from waterside moorings, commercial water sales and investment property. As Partner Analyst you will play an important part in maximising income for the benefit of the charity.

    Based from our central Leeds office, located on the edge of the River Aire close to the Royal Armouries, you will join a busy and vibrant main office where we have a growing base of Finance colleagues.  It's a welcoming & open environment where you will be easily able to meet with colleagues from across not only the North, but our national organisation, and all functions enhancing your ability to get to understand our diverse and complex organisation. 


    Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

    Key Accountabilities:


    Working closely and effectively to support the Finance Business Partner, your key accountabilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Responsible for review and analysis of business area performance against financial plans, providing insights and reporting variances to several Heads of investment and/or commercial business areas, Finance Business Partners and Group Accounting . This includes preparation and accurate recording of budget and forecast information in the Trusts financial reporting systems.
    • Respond to requests for ad-hoc management information and analysis on a clearly presented and timely basis
    • Responsible for encouraging and recommending means of continuous improvement in data, systems and information feeding ideas into BI and Group Accounting teams. Proactively lead on developing an understanding of finance essentials by clients and business area heads to support them with delivery of their plans. This includes helping them find and follow organisational guidance and appropriate authorisation paths.
    • Provide decision and appraisal support to ensure the financial aspects of investment and other commercial proposals are properly considered, providing constructive challenge where appropriate
    • Responsible for ensuring transactional accounting is accurately reflected in the books of account and in accordance with relevant SORP / Accounting standards. Ensure accurate preparation of management accounts
    • Responsible for keeping financial skills and knowledge up-to-date, adhering to the CPD requirements of any professional memberships
    • Display the Trust values and behaviours at all times

    Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

    It is important to us that our new team member has enough knowledge and expereine to start to make a difference quickly on joining, so we want your application and CV to demonstrate with examples how you have gained the requirements below.   You will also be Qualified with either ACA, ACCA or CIMA status.

    • Experience of working in a commercial environment and providing financial support to in a client lead environment
    • Demonstrable financial knowledge with an excellent understanding of applicable accounting standards and financial / management accounting processes
    • Wide ranging experience of accounting and control processes in a complex commercial business employing sophisticated enterprise level financial systems.
    • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office applications, notably Word and Excel
    • Advanced SAP/ similar ERP knowledge and skills
    • Good communication and presentation skills
    • Strong customer service focus
    • Ability to build effective internal and external relationships
    • Ability to work accurately and to tight timescales
    • Proven ability to effectively and confidently communicate financial matters to non-financial colleagues
    • Excellent data management and analytical skills
    • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment
