We are currently recruiting for a Data Analyst - Reservoirs.

The role will be a member of the national Reservoir Team, who are responsible for the asset management and reservoir safety of the Trust’s 70 Regulated and 5 Non-Regulated reservoirs.  Whilst reporting directly to the Principle Reservoir Engineer, and as an integral member of the national Reservoir Team,  you will get to work closely with experts in their field every day, from across our diverse specialist teams.  You will work in partnership on a daily basis with our regional engineering team, SCADA team, asset data & systems analysts and ICT specialists.  Your role will also require you to work effectively & collaboratively with other asset management professions, such as Heritage, Environment, Water Management and MEICA across the organisation.

Base Location: This role can be based from Leeds, Birmingham, Wigan where we have main offices - we are also able to consider people who can easily commute to other office locations at Hatton, Burnley & Ellesmere


Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

About the Role

In this role you will support the development of the Trust’s Reservoir Asset Management Strategy through data management for the Trust’s reservoir portfolio. This includes updates and data management of the Trust’s asset management information system (SAP).
You will also manage the reservoir data system, inputting data received from field operatives and determine data trends from the Trust’s digital surveillance application and will be responsible for controlling the reservoir monitoring and surveillance activities with support from the Reservoir Team.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To contribute to the development, implementation & measurement of asset management strategies that are clearly integrated with, and deliver against, the Trust’s vision, strategic goals, priorities & objectives;
  • To coordinate the development & maintenance of asset information management systems for reservoirs (SAP / GIS / Sharepoint) so they provide robust information which can be used to determine the Trust’s priorities and actions;
  • To contribute towards development of systems for digital data collection and digital monitoring of reservoirs and analysis of monitoring data
  • Ensure high quality, accurate data is collected and its integrity is maintained at all times
  • Identify and promote continuous improvement opportunities and recommendations based on data analysis;
  • Interrogation of data and problem investigation;
  • Establish, maintain and implement standards and processes for data management and analysis;
  • Work safely ensuring the safety of others and contribute to safe working in all activities;


Knowledge, experience & skills:


  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail              
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi-task               
  • Proficient in the use of a personal computer and business applications software e.g. Excel, Word and other MS office applications.                    
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas through data manipulation            
  • Ability to extract and interpret data in order to display succinct information for reporting purposes   
  • Excellent standard of written and verbal communication             
  • Valid driving licence appropriate to vehicle to be driven.  



  • Degree (or equivalent) in economics, mathematics or statistics based subject.           
  • Continuous Professional Development               
  • Advanced knowledge and experience of MS Excel and the ability to manipulate data and present it in varied, clear and concise formats.                    
  • Proven experience working in a data analysis role                      
  • Proven experience of designing reports and report writing                     
  • Robust experience of SAP                    
  • Previous asset management experience            
  • Knowledge or understanding of reservoirs or within the water industry
