Every role across the Trust plays its part in transforming our canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and enjoy the unique experiences offered by our historic infrastructure.   We are currently looking for a number of Project Managers to join our Infrastructure and Programme Delivery (IPD) team; playing an important role in supporting our vision and delivering our Waterways and Wellbeing strategy. Job Title: Craft Operative Advertised Salary:£26,904 with salary progression + outer London allowance (£2,000) + benefits Location: Remote, with regular travel across our regional networks required. See our canal network here: (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network).   The Canal & River Trust is one of the UK’s largest charities, we maintain 2,000 miles of historic canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs, along with museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of protected historic buildings – preserving them for future generations.  Our waterways are exciting, vibrant places to work.   We are looking for a Craft Operative (Joiner/Carpenter) to join our London & Southeast team.  As a Craft Operative for our waterway you will play an important role applying to help us improve, maintain, and preserve our wonderful network for our customers to enjoy today and into the future. This will involve undertaking the, refurbishment or repair of canal infrastructure including locks / bridges/ aqueducts / towpaths and associated equipment, working efficiently to defined safety /environmental and heritage standards at all times.   The post holders will be required to work an annualised hour’s system which includes working a rota'd system including statutory holidays and weekends. Our Craft Operatives look after specific stretches of our regional waterways, however the team are naturally called upon to support work in other areas as required, so you need to have your own transport and valid UK driving licence.     Location & coverage Reporting to the base at Leighton Buzzard Depot (LU7 4RW) this role will involve regular travel along the regional canal network - from Cosgrove down to Boulbourne in Tring including the Aylesbury Arm with occasional work on the South Oxford canal   Occasionally you may also be required to work in other areas of London & Southeast region (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/about-us/where-we-work/london-and-south-east).

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor   Advertised Salary:£40,000 - £43,950 + Car Cash Allowance (£425 per month) + benefits Location: Remote, with regular travel across our regional networks required. Number of opportunities available:x3; x1 North (covering Northwest, Yorkshire & Northeast & some of East Midlands); x2 South (covering some East Midlands, West Midlands, Wales & Southwest & Gloucester)   We are one of the UK's biggest charities and what we do is possible because of the many different people and organisations make it work – from our grant from Government, fees from boat owners and businesses, our investment and commercial income, lottery funds, corporate and local authority partnerships, and donations from the public, including their volunteer time.   We have a vacancy for a self-motivated Quantity Surveyor to assist in the delivery of our Civil Engineering, Dredging, MEICA and various other contracts in England and Wales.   We have a busy and ambitious commercial function and are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to assist within our Commercial & Contracts Team in providing an independent, expert resource to oversee the commercial aspects of contracts across the Trust. The Trust has a diverse and dynamic workforce and offers a great working culture. It carries out circa £70m per annum on civil engineering construction related projects,£10m on dredging, £7m on MEICA and various other contracts.   The majority of these are delivered under the NEC3 and NEC4, ECC, ECSC and PSC Forms of Contract through our Framework Suppliers, for which this role will assist the delivery teams in their delivery, as well as from time to time, dealing with our in-house delivery team and other contracts under various other forms of contract. We aim to ensure that the Trust ascertains value for money, and to protect the Trust and individuals within it from adverse risk.   Location & coverage Our QS will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings. Travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits, liaise with team members, and to assess/conduct necessary improvements.    The allocation of region (north/south) and the location of travel will be based on your home location.
