Job Title: Commercial Surveyor  Advertised Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (DOE) + car cash allowance (£5,100 p.a.) + benefits. Location: Remote, with regular travel across our regional network. See here: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/canals-and-rivers   The Canal & River Trust generates significant revenue from businesses operating on our network (such as marinas, boatyard, moorings, hire boat operators, trading boats etc). This income helps the Trust to look after the canals and rivers in our care.   Rent reviews and lease renewals within the Business Boating (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/business-and-trade/business-boating) portfolio arise at a rate faster than can be dealt with by the Regional Property Surveyors.   The Commercial Surveyor will work closely with the Regional Property Surveyors across the midlands and south and will be responsible for implementation and ongoing management of rent reviews and lease renewals many of which are historical across the portfolio. They will also provide support and advice with general lease/property management issues, liaising with the tenant and colleagues to remedy ongoing concerns.   The role is aimed to provide extra resource to improve customer service provided by the Business Boating Team and will regularise and improve income streams and maximise income generation for the Trust.     Location & coverage Offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings. Travel throughout the Midlands & South waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits and face to face meetings. See our canal network here: (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network).   The Canal & River Trust is one of the UK’s largest charities, we maintain 2,000 miles of historic canals, rivers, docks and reservoirs, along with museums, archives and the country’s third largest collection of protected historic buildings – preserving them for future generations.  Our waterways are exciting, vibrant places to work.   We are looking for a Craft Operative (Joiner/Carpenter) to join our London & Southeast team.  As a Craft Operative for our waterway you will play an important role applying to help us improve, maintain, and preserve our wonderful network for our customers to enjoy today and into the future. This will involve undertaking the, refurbishment or repair of canal infrastructure including locks / bridges/ aqueducts / towpaths and associated equipment, working efficiently to defined safety /environmental and heritage standards at all times.   The post holders will be required to work an annualised hour’s system which includes working a rota'd system including statutory holidays and weekends. Number of opportunities available:x3; x1 North (covering Northwest, Yorkshire & Northeast & some of East Midlands); x2 South (covering some East Midlands, West Midlands, Wales & Southwest & Gloucester)   We are one of the UK's biggest charities and what we do is possible because of the many different people and organisations make it work – from our grant from Government, fees from boat owners and businesses, our investment and commercial income, lottery funds, corporate and local authority partnerships, and donations from the public, including their volunteer time.   We have a vacancy for a self-motivated Quantity Surveyor to assist in the delivery of our Civil Engineering, Dredging, MEICA and various other contracts in England and Wales.   We have a busy and ambitious commercial function and are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to assist within our Commercial & Contracts Team in providing an independent, expert resource to oversee the commercial aspects of contracts across the Trust. The Trust has a diverse and dynamic workforce and offers a great working culture. It carries out circa £70m per annum on civil engineering construction related projects,£10m on dredging, £7m on MEICA and various other contracts.   The majority of these are delivered under the NEC3 and NEC4, ECC, ECSC and PSC Forms of Contract through our Framework Suppliers, for which this role will assist the delivery teams in their delivery, as well as from time to time, dealing with our in-house delivery team and other contracts under various other forms of contract. We aim to ensure that the Trust ascertains value for money, and to protect the Trust and individuals within it from adverse risk.   Location & coverage Our QS will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings. Travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits, liaise with team members, and to assess/conduct necessary improvements.    The allocation of region (north/south) and the location of travel will be based on your home location.
